Follow the Footprints to the Hidden Treasure.

Follow the footprints to the hidden treasure is a great game to play on a rainy day.

All you need is some Paper, blu tac, a treasure to hide, scissors and a pencil.

Tip...Show the children the treasure before you start then they will know what they are looking for when they reach the end of the 'foot path'. This also means you can be a little more tricky with your hiding spots! The 'treasure' may be a colourful little ball or a favourite little toy.

First trace around your child's left and right feet and cut out at least ten of each.

If you have older children they can take turns in making the footprint paths and hiding the object, if you are playing with younger children you will need to assist.

Using the blu tac secure the footprints to the floor.  Make the path interesting by making them hop, or space the footprints further or closer together. Twist and turn your path through the house to the hidden treasure.

This is a fun little game which will be loved by all.

Photo Puzzles

Next time you go and print off your family photos, be sure to grab a few extra copies.  The kids will love putting together their own family photo puzzles.  To make them last a little longer, glue the photo to a stiff piece of card before you randomly cut them into pieces. You can make your puzzles as easy or as complicated as you like.  Enjoy rebuilding your family photos piece by piece!

Water Rainbow

Next time you are out watering the garden with the garden hose, in the bright evening sun, adjust the nozzle to produce a fine spray and direct the water in a high arch.  If you can catch the sun's rays in just the right position your toddler will be amazed at the beautiful rainbow you have created.  Just remember to try and keep the water on the garden so you are also using the water wisely!

A Reindeer Snack

This is a great little Christmas activity.  All you need is a plastic bag, rolled oats, glitter, string or ribbon to tie the bag and a little bit of love.  Take a couple of tablespoons of oats and pour into your plastic bag, then sprinkle in as much glitter as you like.  Blow a kiss into the bag while making your Santa wish.  Seal the bag with your ribbon and shake.  Keep in a special place until Christmas night and leave out with a treat for Santa.  Santa will love having a yummy snack to give to the reindeer.

Is it Heavier or Lighter?

You will be surprised at how long this will entertain kids of age 4 years and above. All you need is a set of scales, some pantry items and a pen and paper.  Grab your items, let the kids guess which is heavier or lighter, weigh the item then see who was correct.  Write the weights down as you go.  You can get them to guess the weight, which is lighter, heavier, or the same.  You can even grab the bathroom scales, get them to weigh themselves, then fill a laundry basket with pantry items until it reaches their weight.  Great for building basic maths building blocks.
